Before I entered the world of spiritual guidance, I charted endless pro and con lists in my head. It was exhausting. The mental gymnastics of weighing benefits and obstacles had no endgame other than feeding a running and circuitous narration about my life and what course to follow. I would spin myself into a rut, and I was so tired of only hearing my voice.

When I began connecting with the mystical realm of guidance, insight, and information dropped in that quieted the ticker-tape of my mind. No longer was I exhausted by my own inner chatter. I was being guided and led by something greater that moved me beyond myself. It was freedom. I heard the wise voice of my soul speak clearly and directly.

However, I still wasn’t so sure. I wanted to know that what I received was valid, trustworthy, and right. I had to know beyond doubt that what I was following wasn’t all in my head. I also needed to know I was faithful to my belief system and spiritual heritage. So, instead of backing away from the guidance I was receiving, I leaned in and delved deeper into figuring out what it was all about.

What I discovered surprised me. Almost half of U.S adults report receiving guidance or insights from intense spiritual or mystical experiences. Receiving guidance appears in classic religious texts, from dream interpretation to hearing the voice of God to extraordinary phenomena. Modern science supports a quantum mind or information field that gives substance to wisdom, guidance, and insight that lives outside of our human minds. I was relieved to discover that ‘woo’ wasn’t so ‘weird’ and that what I received was valid, trustworthy, and right.
