Dear Common Awakening Community,

During January, we are sharing an hour-long interview that End of the Road Podcast recorded in the hope it will inspire and challenge you to reflect on your journey with boldness as we voyage into 2023.  

This week's 8-minute podcast discusses how serendipity led us to work together and begin Common Awakening. Whether our story is new to you or if you’ve heard it many times before, we hope that you will allow the energy of synchronicity and serendipity to enliven your own reflections and create a bit of illumination along your path.

Why? Serendipities happen all of the time. We simply need to stop and notice where these occurrences are attempting to grab our attention. Take a look at how serendipity directly informed and impacted scientific findings that we now take for granted—from penicillin to x-rays.. What often feels like a mistake or unimportant may be the key that unlocks surprising next steps in our life.

Where in your life are happy serendipities popping up and leading you? They are happening all of the time. We need only pay attention! 

A few essential qualities often mark serendipities. 

Serendipities are:

1. Sudden- they flash with a quick energy that draws us in

2. Surprises- they capture our attention in a way that breaks through

3. Sparks- they invite inspiration, an “ah-ha” that evokes

Take a moment to reflect. Where might there be serendipities that you may not have recognized? How do you feel when you allow the sudden, surprising sparks to inform your steps, large and small? What might be different in your life if you allowed serendipity to influence you?

Pay attention this week. You might be surprised by what shows up along the way.
